Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' was penned by an American advertising executive called Robert May as a marketing ploy appealing to children. The poem was intended to be given to children by the Santa Claus employed by Department Stores at Christmas! It became so popular that approximately 2.5 million poems were given away in the first year of its publication! Its music was composed in 1949 by Johnny Marks and it was recorded first by the singer Gene Autry.

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
You would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
You'll go down in history!
